1 Tenge = 100 Tyin (not used because of inflation).
The tenges were introduced on November 15, 1993.
The rubles were replaced by the tenges at a rate: 1 tenge = 500 Russian rubles.
In 2006 new series of banknotes were issued. First banknotes of 2000 and 5000 tenges issued in 2006 had
grammar errors.
On 15 November 2023, the National Bank of Kazakhstan unveiled a new family of notes that will have a staggered introduction
from 2023 to 2025. The designs are based on the elements of “Saka style” and reflects the heritage of the country, from the
unique nomad culture to modern Kazakhstan.
